And the Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture (Drama) Goes to…
It was a close race, but only one film can be victorious.
Tonight, the 78th annual Golden Globes took place virtually on NBC. During the ceremony, the cast and creative team of Nomadland won the highly prestigious award for Best Motion Picture (Drama).
Other nominees included Mank, Promising Young Woman, The Father and The Trial of the Chicago 7.
The Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture (Drama) has been around since 1944. However, it wasn’t until 1951 when the Hollywood Foreign Press Association split the category into two (Drama and Comedy/Musical) that it became its own award.
Previous winners include 1917, Bohemian Rhapsody, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, Moonlight, The Revenant, Boyhood, 12 Years a Slave, Argo, The Descendants, The Social Network, Avatar, Slumdog Millionaire, Atonement, Babel, Brokeback Mountain, The Aviator, The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, The Hours, A Beautiful Mind, Gladiator, American Beauty, Saving Private Ryan, Titanic, The English Patient, Sense and Sensibility, Forrest Gump, Schindler’s List, Bugsy and Dances with Wolves.
The 78th annual Golden Globes were hosted by Amy Poehler and Tina Fey. Although the dynamic duo previously served as hosts in 2013, 2014 and 2015, this is the first time they did it from opposite sides of the country.
Talk about a stacked category.
