“I was preparing to come and do this when I was filming Legendary season two, and I just asked her and she turned out to be a huge Marvel fan,” Jamil told The Hollywood Reporter. “I just had a feeling she’d be a great actor because she’s good at everything, and she absolutely smashed it. I could not have been prouder or more in awe of her, and she brings out something in Tatiana that no one has ever seen before—Tatiana has moves. It’s ridiculous.”
Jamil continued, “Megan’s just one of the highlights of the whole show for me. Every time someone’s been asking me, ‘What’s your favorite thing from the show?’ I haven’t been able to say yet because it’s not out, but it’s Megan.”
She-Hulk executive producer and head writer Jessica Gao said that as soon as Jamil suggested Megan for the role, it was set, explaining, “The moment she brought her up we said, ‘OK, that’s it, we’re done, there’s nobody else. If she’s willing to do it, we’ll do whatever it takes to make it happen.'”
Gao added of Megan, “She looks amazing on camera, she’s so cute and she was having so much fun; she’s so game to play, and how great is that tag? Tatiana said that she thinks it’s the single most important scene in the MCU and I agree with her, it really is. It’s the single most important scene in all of the MCU.”

Before ever getting signed to a record deal, Megan Thee Stallion amassed a following on SoundCloud, releasing one-off singles and two digital mixtapes on the platform (Rich Ratchet in 2016 and Megan Mix in 2017). Her 2016 Houston Cypher went viral, and within a year she released her Make It Hot EP. A single from the EP, "Last Week in HTx," racked up millions of YouTube views.
In 2018, Megan Thee Stallion became the first woman signed to Houston indie label 1501 Certified Entertainment. She secured a $10,000 advance as a signing bonus (which, in music industry terms, is relatively small). That June, she released Tina Snow, a 10-track EP. That November, she signed with 300 Entertainment, once more becoming the first woman signed to that label.
Megan's first charting single from Tina Snow was "Big Ole Freak," released in January 2019. It entered the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 99 that April and eventually peaked at No. 65.
Megan Thee Stallion released her Fever EP in May 2019, and the released was universallylaudedbycritics.

In March 2020, Megan Thee Stallion dropped her Suga EP, leading to a conflict with 1501 Entertainment (more on that later!), which tried to block the release. It didn't hinder the record's success, however, as the track "Savage" went viral and garnered more than 15 million views and eventually inspired a remix featuring none other than Beyoncé. Megan and Beyoncé donated the remix's profits to charities in their shared hometown of Houston, as well as taking home some historic Grammys for the effort.
Megan Thee Stallion released her album Good News on November 20, 2020, bolstered by the success of her single "Body."

How much did Megan Thee Stallion's lawsuit cost her?
Megan might currently be worth a lot more than $3.5 million if she'd started off her career under different management. In 2019, Megan Thee Stallion signed a management deal with Jay-Z's Roc Nation team. Then in early March 2020, Megan successfully filed a restraining order against 1501 Entertainment for trying to block her from releasing her Suga EP (which she intended to drop on May 2 in honor of her deceased mother's birthday). She also sued the label, explaining in an Instagram Live (via Rolling Stone) that her new management team brought several contract stipulations to her attention of which she said she wasn't previously aware.
"1501 don’t want me to put out no music. All I did was ask to renegotiate my contract, then it became a whole big thing," she said. "When I signed, I didn’t really know what was in my contract. I was young. I think I was like 20, and I ain’t know everything that was in my contract. So when I got with Roc Nation, I got management, real management. I got real lawyers. They was like, ‘Do you know that this is in your contract?’ And I was like, ‘Oh, damn, that’s crazy—no, I didn’t know.’”
In addition to her small signing bonus of $10,000 as an advance, Megan's contract reportedly also facilitated a 60/40 split of her earnings between the label and Megan, and that Megan would only receive her 40 percent after the label's costs were recouped. The label also had "undivided 50 percent interest in the worldwide copyright" and exclusive rights to Megan's catalog with them, as well as "30 percent of almost all of Megan’s sources of income, including merchandising, sponsorships, endorsements, and every conceivable version of a live performance: concerts, clubs shows, hosting, and tours." 1501 Entertainment's contract also indicated that it had all rights to Megan's name and likeness for branding and merchandising, as well as control of Megan’s appearances and live performances, requiring Megan and the label to “mutually agree on tour participants and the revenue split.” The contract also demanded 30 percent of whatever income Megan earned from work in television, film and essentially any other non-musical ventures.
Label head Carl Crawford disputed Megan's claims to Billboard, telling the outlet, “We gave this girl a 60-40 split. Now go ask the artist about that. She got parts of her masters [the] the first time. You think Jay-Z would have given her part of her masters on her first deal with Roc Nation? F--- no. Then, she’s getting $100,000 a show and she doesn’t want to pay up. That’s what the issue was about. She signed with Roc Nation in August and decided she didn’t wanna pay me no more.”
Megan, responding to the claims in a written statement, said "1501 doesn’t want to approve my budget to put out album that the court is allowing to be released," "1501 gets 30% of my tour, merch and any activity including books, film and more" and "Farris is grinding with me, Carl has never spent hundreds of thousands of dollars."

How much does Megan Thee Stallion earn for her work in TV?
In 2016, Megan Thee Stallion auditioned for Love & Hip Hop: Houston, a spinoff of the reality series that made her pal and collaborator Cardi B a household name. Megan's signature confidence was already on full display.
“It’s Megan Thee Stallion, a.k.a young Tina Snow a.k.a H-Town Hottie," she said in a video released by VH1. "I’m from Houston, Texas and I’m just the best female rapper that’s poppin’ off right now. And on top of that, I’m a full-time college student.” The spinoff didn't get picked up to series, but she still made her mark in a big way.
Since then, she's occasionally branched out into acting, although her earnings for those performances are hard to come by. In October 2019, Megan Thee Stallion helped create and starred in Hottieween, a horror series directed by Teyana Taylor. In the series, Megan is a private investigator looking into a murder that may or may not have been committed by vampires (we're not here to spoil it for you!).
Megan also served as a judge on HBO Max's vogueing competition series Legendary. She will also judge the show's upcoming second season.
She was also featured in Sarah Cooper: Everything's Fine on Netflix in 2020 and had a guest-starring role on Season 3 of Good Girls. For the latter, sitcom guest stars can reportedly earn $3,000-$5,000 for their work, although a famous guest star can certainly bring in more.
How much does Megan Thee Stallion make on endorsement deals?
Major brands are getting behind Megan Thee Stallion, and with good reason.
Megan partnered with Revlon in August 2020 as a brand ambassador and appeared in ads for their products, including this one.

Megan Thee Stallion made history on the cover of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit
In July 2021, Megan Thee Stallion made history as the first rapper to ever cover the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue. She told PEOPLEthat it was an "amazing" honor and that it was the culmination of months of hard work.
"I had been training for months and I was super prepared," she said. "I got into the shoot right away... The day was perfect and I had a blast."
She added, "My earliest memory of a SI Swimsuit cover was Tyra [Banks]. I remember thinking, 'Wow, this girl looks like me!' Here is this stunning Black woman owning her curves and it made a big impact. It made me think, maybe I can be on the cover of SI Swim one day. And guess what — I am!"
While there's no word on how much Megan made for the shoot, the SI Swimsuit Issue rakes in big money. "It's 10 percent of our overall business on a yearly basis," Time Sports Group President Mark Ford said in 2013. "Since '64, it's generated a billion dollars in revenue for us."
How much does Megan Thee Stallion earn from her "Hot Girl Summer" trademark?
An often overlooked part of what makes Megan Thee Stallion a money-making genius is her trademark of the phrase "Hot Girl Summer." She explained to Allure that she didn't want one of her signatures being appropriated by other brands without getting a cut: "When I saw Wendy's and Forever 21 saying, 'Hey, are you having a Hot Girl Summer?' I was like, 'Hell no, Forever 21, you're going to have to pay me.' I wanted to get it trademarked because it's me. It's my thing."
So how much moolah can Megan count on thanks to her trademark? That's tough to gauge, but to get a hint, just take a look at all the Hot Girl Summer shirts, Hot Girl Summer tees, Hot Girl Summer tanks, Hot Girl Summer cups, Hot Girl Summer journals and even Hot Girl Summer dog bandanas that you can buy with her signature saying!
Megan Thee Stallion is generous in giving back
In addition to donating her "Savage" remix profits, Megan Thee Stallion has done a slew of other charitable work since breaking into mainstream success, simply because that's who she is.
"Money isn't something that makes my world go round, to be honest," she told Vogue Australia. "My grandma was a super-generous lady. We lived on the South Side of Houston and I would literally see people coming to the gate to ask for help. She always made sure everyone was okay. So I picked that up from my grandmother. I really care."
Megan opened a chain of assisted living facilities in her hometown of Houston after growing up seeing her grandmother care for her great-grandmother.
In March 2021, just ahead of the Grammys, it was announced that Megan partnered Women on Top, a philanthropic partnership with Fashion Nova focused on female empowerment. The program focuses on supporting education, female-focused businesses, charities and organizations, as well as highlighting inspirational women changing the world. Through the program, Fashion Nova Cares highlights women, entrepreneurs, and organizations and granted them each $25,000 or more, for a total of $1,000,000.
In December 2020, she leveraged her Coach partnership to bring aid to women at the YWCA in Houston.
Megan has her own scholarship program to help BIPOC women pursue higher education.
She and Cardi B also partnered with Twitter to give away a whopping $1 million.
In addition to donating serious sums, Megan Thee Stallion is also a tireless advocate for women of color, dedicating her debut Saturday Night Live performance to protecting Black women and fighting against police brutality against Black men.
