'Good for her': Twitter users support elementary school teacher who was caught with a bag of wine in her classroom
An elementary school teacher is accused of having a partially consumed bag of wine in her classroom.
Shannon R. Beran, 43, of Deville, La. was allegedly displaying odd behavior during car rider pickup duty at Buckeye Elementary School, the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office reports. In a press release provided to Yahoo Lifestyle, Capt. Tommy Carnline shared that witnesses on the scene observed Beran “moving slowly and awkwardly.”
The authorities were called, and a school resource officer arrived on the scene about 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday to assist school administration. The officer confronted Beran and asked about her condition, and she became defensive and “stated she wanted to leave.” The officer detained Beran and started his investigation, which resulted in him finding of a partially consumed bag of wine in Beran’s classroom.
Beran was placed under arrest for possession of alcohol on public school property and released on a $500 bond.
According to Louisiana law, a person who is guilty of unauthorized possession or consumption of alcoholic beverages on public school property shall be fined “not more than one thousand dollars and imprisoned not less than fifteen days nor more than six months.”
While becoming intoxicated around young students is shocking, many Twitter users are saying “good for her” as they can recognize that dealing with students is a difficult task.

Others felt this was perfect proof that teachers do not make the salaries they deserve.
If y’all paid teachers more, she would be able to afford something more expensive than boxed wine.
