Watch a Trailer for Grace and Frankie's Last Season
The sixth season of Grace and Frankie—the much-loved sitcom about two friends, played by Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin, struggling to navigate their lives after their husbands leave them for each other—dropped on Netflix all the way back in January 2020. Unfortunately, it doesn't take long for devoted fans to get through 13 half-hour episodes, and with production extended by the COVID-19 pandemic, many have been left with a little Fonda and Tomlin withdrawal.
There will, thankfully, be one more dose of Grace and Frankie—but it'll be the last one. Here, what we know about the show's seventh and final season.
The final episodes will drop on April 29, 2022.
The last twelve episodes of Grace and Frankie will be available to stream on Netflix on April 29. The first four episodes of the season dropped early, in August 2021.

According to Netflix, the seventh season took two years to shoot. Because of the pandemic, it took a year and a half to shoot just one episode.
The poster for the last season proclaims "one more happy ending."
It shows Grace and Frankie in the ocean together:
The official synopsis reads, "A history-making 94 episodes later, Grace and Frankie continue to show themselves, their families, and their fans what it means to live life to the fullest, fearlessly and unapologetically. Here’s to seven seasons of laughs, tears, mood-enhancers, and good vibes. And, as Grace and Frankie would say, fuck it. This may be their final chapter, but they’re just getting started."
Netflix announced the show's renewal (and eventual end) back in September 2019.
"We are both delighted and heartbroken that Grace and Frankie will be back for its seventh, though final, season," Fonda and Tomlin said at the time, per Variety. "We’re so grateful that our show has been able to deal with issues that have really connected to our grand generation. And their kids, and amazingly, their kids as well! We’ll miss these two old gals, Grace and Frankie, as much as many of their fans will, but we’ll still be around. We’ve outlasted so many things—just hope we don’t outlast the planet."
It'll contain 16 brand-new episodes.
That'll bring Grace and Frankie's total episode count to 94—making the show Netflix's longest-running series to date. Though, there's no premiere date as of yet, Netflix did surprise fans by debuting the first four episodes of the season in August 2021, along with word that the rest of the season will arrive in 2022. Filming on the season wrapped in November 2021.
It sounds like the show will reach a satisfying conclusion.
Showrunner Marta Kauffman revealed to Good Housekeeping that in season seven, "we're going to be dealing with Robert, Sol, Grace, and Frankie in a way in that we haven't seen before." Still, Kauffman added, the writers' plans are subject to change. "We think we know where we're going, but I'll let you know when we get there if we stuck to that plan."
What won't change, it seems, is the underlying ethos of the series. "You know, my hope is that [the show] inspires people to realize that just because one phase of your life ends doesn't mean that another one doesn't begin — and it can be better than the previous phases," Marta said. "I hope people realize they are vibrant, and sexual, and with a good woman friend, you can do anything."
Dolly Parton will have a cameo this season.
She will reunite with her 9 to 5 co-stars in an episode that will air in early 2022, Netflix confirmed.
