Gwyneth Paltrow Defends Her Wellness Routine Amid Backlash
The Goop founder recently received backlash for speaking about her dietary habits, including intermittent fasting.
Gwyneth Paltrow is standing by her controversial diet tips.
The actress and Goop founder received backlash on TikTok after her appearance on Dr. Will Cole's podcast The Art of Being Well. On the episode, Paltrow talked about her strict diet, which includes intermittent fasting.
When asked by a fan on Instagram how she feels about reactions to her nutrition and diet regiment, Paltrow defended her eating habits.
"Okay, so let's jump into this—I think it's important for everybody to know that I was doing a podcast with my doctor, so this is a person I've been working with for over two years now, to deal with some chronic stuff," she said in an Instagram Story.
Paltrow continued, "I have long COVID, so I have been…and the way it manifests for me is very high levels of inflammation over time, so I've been working with Dr. Cole to really focus on foods that aren't inflammatory, right? So lots of vegetables, cooked vegetables, all kinds of protein, healthy carbs…to really lower inflammation."
She noted that her diet has been "working really well" and is based on her own "medical results." Paltrow also pointed out that the conversation was about what works for her, rather than it being advice for others to follow.
As for her intermittent fasting, she explained that she doesn't follow those habits all the time. "By the way, I eat far more than bone broth and vegetables. I eat full meals and I also have a lot of days of eating whatever I want, and eating french fries and whatever," she divulged.
Paltrow finished her Instagram Story saying that her main priority is making sure to calm her system down.
