H.E.R. Crowned with Best R&B Album at the 2019 Grammys
It’s officially time to dethrone Bruno Mars with a brand-new winner.
Tonight, the 61st annual Grammy Awards took place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, and H.E.R. took home the award for Best R&B Album for H.E.R (“Every Kind of Way,” “Let Me In,” “Say It Again”).
The artist was up against a slew of worthy nominees, including Sex & Cigarettes by Toni Braxton, Good Thing by Leon Bridges, Honestly by Lalah Hathaway and Gumbo Unplugged (Live) by PJ Morton.
The Grammys first introduced the Best R&B Album category back in 1995. While Alicia Keys currently holds the record for the most wins (three) in this particular category, other recipients include 24K Magic by Bruno Mars, Lalah Hathaway Live by Lalah Hathaway, Black Messiah by D’Angelo and The Vanguard, Love, Marriage & Divorce by Toni Braxton and Babyface, Black Radio by Robert Glasper Experiment, F.A.M.E. by Chris Brown and Wake Up! by John Legend and The Roots.
Mission accomplished.
