Halloween events in the Appleton, Green Bay areas offer scary to not-so-scary fun

Halloween is lurking just around the corner, and there are lots of places to celebrate all things pumpkin, spooky and haunted.
Here’s a list of haunted houses and other Halloween-related events happening in the Appleton and Green Bay areas and beyond.
TERROR ON THE FOX
What: Terror on the Fox is a haunted event featuring a ride on an antique passenger train, video screens and computer-controlled sound, lighting and animatronics.
When: Gates open at 7 p.m. on select nights now through Oct. 31.
Where: National Railroad Museum, 2285 S. Broadway, Ashwaubenon.
Admission: Tickets start at $19.99 on select nights. Other nights they start at $24.99, depending on the pass you choose. Tickets can be purchased online in advance but the box office is also open on the grounds during regular business hours.

BURIAL CHAMBER
What: Four full haunted attractions.
When: 6:45-11:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday Oct. 6-28; 6:45-10 p.m. Nov. 3 and 4 for blackout nights. Note: Not all events are open on all nights.
Where: 500 N. Lake St., Neenah
Admission: $20 and up.

GREEN BAY FEAR
What: Haunted house presented by the Beja Shriners, featuring Shawano Manor, Howling Hollow and Mr. Jingles Funhouse.
When: 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday Oct. 6-29; Kids days are 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 21 and 28; The Apocalyptic Side Show is Oct. 27 and 28.

THE REALM OF DARKNESS
What: Haunted house
When: 7-11 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Oct. 6-Nov. 4; 6-9 p.m. Sundays in October. Lights are on for Family Day 1 to 3 p.m. Oct. 14.

Admission: $20 general admission, $30 fast pass.

SPOOKS ON SPURR
What: Tour the Mansion of Misery or the Forest of Freaks. Live music, concessions and bonfire each night. Bands play 7:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.
When: Ticket sales start at 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday Oct.6-28.
Where: W10121 Spurr Road, New London
Admission: $20 for Mansion and $20 for Forest, no fast pass. Tickets sold at the door only.

HAUNTED HEARTHSTONE
What: “Sequential Killers of the Victorian Age.” Strange and scary practices of the Victorian era and possible sightings of long-deceased residents.
When: 6-10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays in October; entry times vary.

ZOMBUS
What: Haunted bus, trail and gellyball attractions. You get to shoot zombies (with paintballs).
When: 7 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays Oct. 6-28
Where: 2055 W. Frontier Road, Little Suamico

PUMPKIN CARVING EVENT
What: Pumpkin carving and decorating event. Bring your own pumpkins and carving tools. Pumpkins will be used to decorate for Zoo Boo.
When: 4-8 p.m. Oct. 11
Where: NEW Zoo, Suamico (at the Pines Shelter)
More: Guests must register in advance to secure a carving time. Capacity will be limited. Free pizza and soda offered to participants

ZOO BOO
What: Costumes are encouraged, and each guest over the age of 1 will receive a bag of candy, ride the carousel and enjoy the maze as well as a scavenger hunt.
When: Staggered start times 4-8 p.m. Oct. 13-14, 20-21, 27-28
Where: NEW Zoo, Suamico
Admission: $15 with children under 3 admitted free (ticket still required). Tickets are available at North Shore Banks or online at newzoo.org.

BOO FEST
What: Halloween-themed event includes a pumpkin-decorating contest, hay wagon rides, horse grooming, scavenger hunt, games, coloring and more.
When: 9 a.m., 10 a.m. or 11 a.m. Oct. 14
Where: The BEAMING Barn 2692 County GG, Neenah.
Admission: Free for children 5 and younger and seniors, all others is a $5 donation at beaminginc.org/event/boofest.

SAWDUST CITY FRIGHT FEST 2023
What: A horror film festival, primarily by Wisconsin filmmakers.
When: 7 p.m. Oct. 13 and 12:30-9 p.m. Oct. 14
Where: Time Community Theater, 445 N. Main St., Oshkosh.
Admission: Free Oct. 13, but reserve seats online. Oct. 14 all day pass is $12, or feature film only is $5.

THE GREAT PUMPKIN TRAIN
What: Entertainment, crafts, games and a chance to ride the train to the pumpkin patch
When: 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Oct. 14 and 21

TRUNK OR TREAT COMMUNITY HALLOWEEN PARTY
What: a non-traditional trick or treat event. Costumes are encouraged.
When: 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Oct. 14
Where: Child Care Resource & Referral, 1001 W. Kennedy Ave., Kimberly
Admission: FREE
TRICK-OR-TREAT TRAIL
What: Hosted by Fox Crossing Parks & Recreation Department, families walk through the jack-o’-lantern lit trails and collect candy. Afterward, enjoy hot chocolate, and children can take home a craft kit. There will be a bon fire, weather permitting.
When: 5 p.m. or 5:45 p.m. Oct. 17
Where: Fritsch Park, 1651 Sandys Lane, Fox Crossing
Admission: $6 per child

BREWS AT THE LEACH
What: Adults can enjoy a Halloween Party at the zoo that includes craft beer, food trucks and live music by Conscious Pilot. There will be costume contests.
When: 5-9 p.m. Oct. 20
Where: Leach Amphitheater, Oshkosh (moved due to trail construction)
Admission: Free
HAUNTED HAYRIDE
What: Haunted hayride and haunted house, food, refreshments, bonfire, and children’s activities.
When: 6-9 p.m. Oct. 20-21 and 27-28
Where: Outagamie Conservation Club, N3502 Mayflower Road, Hortonville
Admission: All ages $8 per person; $1 discount with canned good donation. Children ages 12 and younger get $3 off with a coat donation. One discount per person.

GREENVILLE FRIGHT NIGHT AT THE PARK
What: Haunted pavilion, paranormal zoo, hayride, kids activities, bonfires, pumpkin decorating, dance party, face painting, hearse displays and food and beverages.
When: 6-8 p.m. lights are on and the spooks are friendly; 8-10 p.m., the lights go out and the scares begin, Oct. 20-21 and Oct. 26-28
Where: Greenville Community Park (State 15 and State 76 in Greenville)
Admission: $15 for adults, $10 for ages 5 to 18 and free for children ages 4 and younger

CANDLELIGHT CAVE TOURS
What: Guided tour of caves by candlelight; meet unusual personalities with strange stories to tell. Minimum recommended age is 5 with parent or guardian. Half-mile guided walk departs every half hour.
When: 5:30-8:30 p.m. Oct. 20; 4:30-8:30 p.m. Oct. 21

PUMPKIN WALK
What: A self-guided, half-mile walk through accessible trails lined with hundreds of jack-o-lanterns. There will be a bonfire. Halloween stories will be read inside.

ROMP IN THE SWAMP
What: Explore the trails and collect treats at trick-or-treat stations along the way. Hay wagon rides, kids games, face painting, crafts and more will be available. There will be a chance to win prizes in costume contest.
When: 2-4 p.m. or 5-7 p.m. Oct. 21
Where: Bubolz Nature Preserve, 4815 N. Lynndale Drive, Appleton

ZOOLOWEEN BOO
What: Come in costume and enjoy trick-or-treat stations, concessions, games, crafts, prizes and more. Due to trail construction, the event has been moved.

HALLOWEEN SPOOKTACULAR
What: Games and trick-or-treating and a spooky area for those who wish to enter.
When: 1-6 p.m. Oct. 21
Where: UWO - Albee Hall, 776 Algoma Blvd., Oshkosh.
Admission: Free, but donations are welcome.
TRUNK OR TREAT
What: Trick-or-treat from trunks decorated in Halloween. Lunch served inside.
When: 10:30 a.m. to noon Oct. 22
Where: First United Methodist Church, 325 E. Franklin St., Appleton.
Admission: Free.
A NIGHT TO DISMEMBER
What: The Appleton North High School Theatre Department presents its annual Haunted House. Non-scary flashlight tours will be available during all hours. There will be carnival games, a mini-inflatable haunted house for young children, a bake sale and concessions.
When: 1-4 p.m. and 6-10 p.m. Oct. 27-28
Where: Appleton North High School auditorium, 5000 N. Ballard Road
Admission: $7 for adults and $5 for children under 12. Tickets are available at the door

PUMPKIN HUNT
What: Hosted by Menasha Parks and Recreation Department, search the Menasha Parks and Trail system in pursuit of 10 specially marked hidden pumpkins.
When: Oct. 21-26
Where: A “Picnic by Pumpkin Light” will kick off the week 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Oct. 21 at Smith Park, Menasha. Register for the dinner at menasha.recdesk.com
Admission: The Pumpkin Hunt is free.
HAUNTED TRAIL
What: Haunted trail through Hatten Park. Concessions and admission are available at the main shelter.
When: Oct. 27, with 4:30 p.m. trick-or-treat trail for kids 12 and younger, with the spooky trail starting at 6:45 p.m.

What: Kids can go from car to car to gather their Halloween treats
