Prince Harry recently spoke out about two of his relationship role models—his grandmother and grandfather. In a new documentary about the late Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Philip: The Royal Family Remembers, the Duke of Sussex praised his grandfather's relationship with Queen Elizabeth II. The pair were married for 74 years.
"The two of them together were just the most adorable couple," the Duke of Sussex said, per Vanity Fair. "To me, knowing the cheekiness of him and knowing that behind what the world sees you have two individuals who were very much in love and both, from a very young age, have dedicated their life to service—that is an incredible bond between two people."
Another successful component of this relationship, according to Harry, was the couple's shared sense of humor. The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh apparently loved playing practical jokes and teasing the people around them.
"There’s just that imbalance of, there’s everybody doing their absolute best because 'oh, the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh are coming, let’s make sure we get everything absolutely right,'" he said. "Yet the two of them are going 'I wonder if something’s going to go wrong this year! How exciting!'"
Given this strong bond, Prince Harry discussed his concern for the Queen, as losing a partner of so many decades is certainly difficult.
"[I] miss him more for my grandmother because I know how incredibly strong she was with him there," he noted, but added, "I also know she will be OK without him."
