Heidi Klum, Jimmy Fallon Face-Off in New Game Show 'Password'
The iconic game show is back!
A new—yet not-so-new—game show called "Password" is set to air on NBC tonight and a handful of esteemed celebrities are said to battle it out in the big premiere.
Hosted by Emmy-award-winning actor Keke Palmer and featuring legendary late-night TV personality Jimmy Fallon, "Password" is based on the legacy versions of the game show from over 40 years ago.
In recent years, the game has found a new generation of fans—in part by Fallon's own doing, according to a press release.
In it, NBC Universal officials reminded fans of the game's longstanding impact on nearly 60 years of American TV and wrote, in part: "The trailblazing series established itself as the original celebrity word game when it launched in 1961 and generated several spinoffs over the course of six decades. NBC revived the show in 1979 and 1984 prior to becoming a hit game on both 'Late Night with Jimmy Fallon' and 'The Tonight Show.'"
In this modern game of "Password," Fallon is set to go head-to-head with a series of celebrity guest stars and contestants, including Yvette Nicole Brown, Jon Hamm, Chelsea Handler, Heidi Klum, Chrissy Metz, Martin Short, and Meghan Trainor.
In each of the hour-long episodes, a celebrity and Fallon will each pair up with contestants over two games. Players from each team guess a secret password using only one-word clues in an effort to take home up to $25,000.
The series kicks off with a two-night premiere event on Aug. 9 at 10 p.m. ET/PT and Wednesday, Aug. 10 at 9 p.m. ET/PT, with episodes available to stream the next day on Peacock.
Tonight's premiere features Fallon and Hamm competing in an episode dedicated to the late actor Betty White, who was a frequent player of the game as well as the wife of the original "Password" host Allen Ludden. On Wednesday, supermodel Heidi Klum is set to try her best at the iconic guessing game.
