Here's a Video of Meghan Markle Meeting (and Hugging) Beyoncé at the Lion King Premiere
The stars aligned tonight, and Meghan Markle did indeed get the chance to meet Beyoncé at the Lion King's London premiere. Thankfully, the meeting was caught on camera, so the world gets to take in two icons having a moment for the first time. There was a hug, baby talk, and lots of smiles:
Beyoncé voices Nala in film, while Meghan is at the premiere with her husband Prince Harry. The premiere benefits "support of the conservation and communities work of His Royal Highness through The Royal Foundation," Buckingham Palace said, via The Evening Standard.
Meghan wore a black A-line dress to the premiere, while Beyoncé wore a yellow gown. This is the Duchess of Sussex's very first red carpet since she gave birth to her and Prince Harry's first child, their son Archie Harrison.
The moment is all the more meaningful because of the support Beyoncé has given Meghan before. Bey paid tribute to Meghan when she accepted her BRIT Award in a video acceptance speech with a painting of Meghan in a tiara behind her last year.
Meghan's friend and makeup artist Daniel Martin told Gayle King on CBS's spring special Meghan and Harry Plus One what the Duchess of Sussex's reaction to that was. "I sent her a pic," Martin said. "I think it was a screen grab of the two of them in front of the portrait. I think all I wrote was, 'Girl.' She wrote me back like the big eye emoji." (The big eye emoji he is referring to is likely this flushed one: ??)
