Hermès Launches a New Iconic Bag

Step aside, Birkin and Kelly — Hermès is relaunching the Verrou Chaine clutch bag, which will have the ladies who lust over the famous French house’s wares clamoring to get on the inevitable waitlist.

The Verrou — the name means “bolt” and refers to the bag’s boltlike metal clasp — was first designed by Robert Dumas, a fourth-generation family member, in 1938.

Although the Verrou has been reimagined in a miniature size, it still packs a glamorous punch with its strong geometric shape and heavy-duty palladium-coated chain strap.

The Verrou Chaine clutch bag ($8,000-$21,000) will be available in a variety of colors and styles including goatskin, Doblis calfskin, and alligator.
