Hidden.NY’s highly anticipated Asics collaboration will release this weekend through a pop-up in New York City.

The archival Instagram account and semi-regular footwear/streetwear/trinket collaborator has been tapped for a take on the Gel-NYC, a model that was just introduced in 2023 but is still very much steeped in the aesthetics that have made retro running shoes trendy.
A pixelated Tiger Stripes logo is the defining feature, and anyone familiar with Hidden.NY will recognize its signature shade of green on the branding, which also also appears the lowercase “h” logo with outlines pulled directly from PhotoShop, as well as select portions of the midsole. Most of the leather and mesh sneaker appears in white, though, and metallic silver leather claims significant territory.
The digital theme continues on the shoe box’s interior, which was included in the lone image Hidden.NY used to announce the forthcoming Gel-NYC in December. But with such a strong cult following, that’s all it took to start a countdown in consumers’ heads.
Hidden.NY has previously collaborated with Suicoke, Salomon, and Clarks on a one-time basis each. Its lone footwear collaboration of 2023 came in December via a surprise release of hand-distressed, limited-edition Asics GT-2160s, which marked the first link-up for the two parties. Hidden.NY has been teasing its Gel-NYC since a week prior to that drop and thus planted an early flag for one of the most anticipated sneaker collabs of 2024.
The Hidden.NY x Asics Gel-NYC will get its first release Saturday though a pop-up store at 41 Division Street in Lower-Manhattan. A wider release is then expected to launch April 12 online.
