Hoda Kotb Officiates Wedding for ‘Today’ Fans Who Got Engaged on the Show
One couple celebrated a very special occasion recently, and it got even better with the help of Today's Hoda Kotb. The news anchor helped out two major fans of the show by officiating their wedding in the show's iconic plaza.
Ben Hebert and Mindy Shore made their love official, as they became husband and wife during the morning of Sept. 7. Kotb began the special day by asking the groom how he felt, with Hebert seeming excited yet collected ahead of the main event.
After an adorable flower girl started the ceremony, Al Roker—stepping in for Shore's late father—walked the bride down the aisle to her soon-to-be-husband. Sutton Foster's version of "'Til There Was You" from The Music Man's 2022 Broadway revival perfectly played in the background.

Wearing a light pink suit, Kotb did a fantastic job as officiant of the two's wedding, asking them, "Isn't life such a funny and surprising thing?" Referring to the Today show plaza, she went on, "This is the place where you said 'Yes' to Ben after a proposal, and this is the place where you're going to say, 'I do.'"
The wedding ceremony was filled with emotional vows as the two successfully got married, with their family and friends cheering in audience.
Speaking with Today ahead of the ceremony about how happy they were that Kotb was officiating the plaza wedding, Shore said, “The fact that I have such an affinity for Hoda, and we have such fond memories coming to New York, it just seemed like this wild and crazy, spontaneous thing that felt so right for who we are as a couple."
Shore's connection with Today started as she watched the show with her mother while growing up. In her early 20s, the mother-daughter visited the NYC plaza where the show films, solidifying the bride's superfan status.
Earlier this year on Valentine's Day, Hebert and Shore got engaged on Today, and now they're planning their honeymoon!
