Home of the Week: This $35 Million Trophy Ranch Has Some of the Best Fly Fishing in Jackson Hole
A 71-acre ranch in Wilson, Wyoming, recently came to market for $35 million, making it the most expensive home currently available on the open market in the picturesque ski town situated in the rolling hills just east of Jackson. The sprawling property, known as Five Ponds Ranch, has had just two owners since 2000 and includes a luxury lodge, a trio of all-but-identical guest houses, and an immense, two-story entertainment barn. The ranch gets its name from the five fish-stock ponds strewn across the property amid manicured landscaping and dense stands of cottonwood, spruce, aspen, and willow trees.
With a perfect backdrop of the Teton Mountain Range, the property is your own private playground. There are horseback riding trails, hiking, and some of the best fly fishing in all of Jackson Hole—Fish Creek, a tributary for the 1,100-mile Snake River, winds its way through Five Ponds Ranch. Indeed, back in 1985, the ranch was the first Orvis-endorsed fishing lodge due to its premier fishing opportunities.

“It’s arguably the best fly fishing in Jackson Hole,” Matt Faupel, a listing agent with Compass, tells Robb Report. “You’re two-and-a-half miles south of the town of Wilson, but you also have all this space and amenities.” Faupel is co-listing the property with Rob DesLauriers of Sotheby’s International Realty.
The log cabin-style main home, built in 2000 and measuring in at 8,300 square feet with five bedrooms and 8 bathrooms, is perched at the edge of a pond with a meandering deck that gives the feeling of floating over the water. Local building regulations wouldn’t allow a house to be built so close to the water today.
Inside, the homey Rocky Mountain vibe includes log accents, lots of locally sourced stone, and western-themed decor. The two-story great room has soaring vaulted ceilings and a wall of windows overlooking the landscape. A double-sided, floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace separates the living room from a spacious dining area. The main floor also houses the primary suite, which incorporates two bathrooms, two walk-in closets, a morning/evening bar, and, just outside, a sunken hot tub. Elsewhere, there’s a 1,200-square-foot heated garage with plenty of storage for cars, bikes, kayaks, canoes, rods and tackle, and other outdoor gear.
With three self-contained guest cabins containing a total of nine bedrooms and seven bathrooms, the ranch comfortably accommodates executive retreats, large groups of friends and multi-generational families. Adding to the ranch’s many amenities is the two-story entertainment barn that houses a rock climbing wall, indoor basketball hoop, gym equipment, and a wraparound loft with a media area and lounge. And for equestrians, there are corrals and a riding arena, while the five ponds, which span more than 10 acres combined, are primed for swimming, kayaking, and paddleboarding. Fly fishers can amble over to Fish Creek.
Don’t let the rural landscape and rustic decor fool you; you aren’t exactly roughing here. Every structure is outfitted with a Control4 automation system and Sonos speakers, as well as fiber optic Internet, a Starlink backup, and whole-house UV and water filtration. There are also keyless entry systems and a high-security entry gate.
