Hunter for Target Tall Rain Boots Cancelled
When Target announced their collaboration with Hunter Boots back in March, the Internet went crazy over the $40 version of the British brand's iconic Wellies, that typically retail for $150.
Turns out it was too good to be true.
When the Hunter for Target collection went on sale on April 14, people were disappointed to find to out that the women's tall rain boots were delayed due to production issues. However, Target announced today that they were scrapping the entire line of women's tall rain boots from the collection.
"After thorough evaluation, we've decided not to make this item available," Mark Tritton, Target's Chief Merchandising Officer and Executive Vice President, said in a statement. "We're very sorry, but the production simply didn't meet our standards, Hunter's standards, or the standards we want guests to have when they shop at Target."
Target says they are currently working working with a third party to make sure the boots are recycled properly.
While Tritton did not say what exactly about the boots made them unfit to sell, he assured customers that Target is looking into how this happened to make sure it doesn't happen again with any other limited-edition collaboration.
Even though the women's tall rain boots weren't mean to be, the dipped canvas high-top sneakers and striped sandals will still be sold in stores until June 14, or whenever they sell out.
