Ice T Is Always In Coco Austin's Corner When It Comes to Parenting & His Latest Praise Proves It

People love to criticize Coco Austin‘s approach to parenting, but her husband Ice T is making one thing perfectly clear: he thinks she’s a stellar mom.

While attending the book launch for Our Planet Powered by AI by Mark Minevich, the actor chatted with People about Austin and their 8-year-old daughter Chanel. “Coco is super mom,” Ice T gushed. He added, “We have no nannies. She doesn’t do that.”

The Law and Order: SVU alum praised all stay-at-home moms, saying that though some women think “you’ve got to go out to work,” it isn’t any “less of a job to be a mother.”

“If you’re fortunate enough to be able to stay home with your kids, it’s the most incredible and most admirable thing you can do, is raise a child,” he opined. “So don’t let no woman make you feel any kind of way. Do that job,” Ice T encouraged. Spotlighting Austin as an example, he shared, “She picks Chanel up, goes to school, brings her back, takes her to Kung Fu, takes her to all that stuff. … Coco’s super mom.” The rapper added, “She didn’t ever think she was going to be a super mom — it just happened.”

Austin has previously come under intense public scrutiny for her parenting choices, including bathing her daughter in an oversized sink, pushing her in a stroller, and kissing her on the lips, among many other things. During a November 2022 appearance on The Tamron Hall Show, the model opened up about the mental toll she endures from the unrelenting criticism.

After Ice T surprised her with a video message praising her as a partner and mother, Austin broke down in tears. She explained to Hall, “You don’t hear what good you do. You don’t hear the goodness. You just hear the bad. And I know I’m a good mother because I dedicated the last six years of putting everything aside — my career, everything, just for her.” On the brink of a sob, Austin added, “You just want a little love, a little respect from people.”

Of course everyone is going to have their own opinions on the wrong and right ways to raise children, but the overwhelmingly important thing is that kids are loved by their parents. Austin undoubtedly cherishes her daughter, and beyond that, the way she chooses to raise Chanel is no one’s business.
