We all have that one thing we are never without and make use of every day, especially us editors at T&C. For Beauty Director April Long, it's a good red lipstick. For Executive Travel Editor Karla Glowczewska, she loves traveling with a cashmere wrap. As for me, I like to have lip balm with me at all times.
You see, chapped lips have always been an issue for me, especially during the colder months. I probably don't need to tell you this because you already know it, but the feeling of having a dry, cracked, and flakey pout is the worst. It can be painful, visually unappealing, and just really uncomfortable. My lips crave hydration, so I always, ALWAYS, always am stocked up on lip balm. There are about two on my nightstand, a few in my makeup bag, and at least one on my vanity. But there's one, in particular, that's always carefully placed in the same spot in my purse for easy access—and it's Ilia's Lip Wrap Reviving Balm.
I was introduced to the lip treatment a few months back, and I'm kicking myself that I didn't discover it earlier. The formula contains hyaluronic acid (a.k.a. everyone's favorite skincare ingredient) and Salicornia (sea succulent) which helps hydrate lips and makes them look and feel smoother and plumper. I find that with many other balms on the market, the more you use it, for some reason the more your lips feel dehydrated. What is that all about?! The Ilia moisturizer truly does as it promises and delivers healthier results with each use over time. I also really like the subtle scent of the product. It's a mix of naturally-derived lavender and chamomile, which only adds to the soothing experience of applying lip balm.
But my favorite aspect of all? The Ilia balm has a ceramic applicator that naturally feels cooling and refreshing upon application. Honestly... I have never seen a feature like that in another lip balm. Prior to using the lip moisturizer, I also would have never thought of applying something cold to my lips. But if you think about it... applying something cool to the lips does make sense. Using cold face rollers on the face and gel patches for the under eye area feels delightful, right? So, why wouldn't it feel good on the lips? It's truly changed the way I look at other balms and is giving my long-time tried-and-true favorites a run for their money.
Thought, as far as lip balms go, this one is a bit pricey. But rest assured it won't break the bank or run out quickly. Besides, does anyone really ever finish a tube within a year? As a self-proclaimed lip balm expert, I think I've only ever reached the end of a tube/stick/tin about five or six times in my lifetime.
So I'll leave you with this: Between the hydrating formula and that incredible cooling tip, the Ilia Lip Wrap Reviving Balm is worth every single penny. You won't regret it this winter.
