If you’ve watched Garten cook, then you know she makes everything look easy, but these crackers actually are. She starts by creaming butter in an electric mixer, then she adds freshly grated parmesan, minced fresh thyme leaves, and other ingredients to the bowl, continuing to mix. Easy peasy, right?
Next, it’s time to work on the dough! Garten dumps the mixture out on a floured board, pressing it into a ball, then rolling it into a 9-inch log. Now, you can take a little break, refrigerating the dough for at least 30 minutes, but no longer than four days. When you’re ready to prepare the crackers, cut the log into little circles with a small knife (it should make 24 crackers). You will spread them out on parchment paper over a sheet pan and bake until light brown.
“I just let them cool a little on the tray, pretty platter, and I’m done!” Garten says about the finished snack. These look so yummy, they don’t even need meat or cheese to feel complete!
“Those crackers looked sooo good! I could dunk them in a soup or stew,” one person praised in the comments. Someone else said, “What an incredible appetizer.”
One person had a suggestion to give you more crackers from each batch. They said that they want to try the recipe, “but I would make it thinner and flatter.” You can’t go wrong either way!
While these crackers make the perfect appetizer, soup makes the perfect main course this fall. Of course, Garten has tons of amazing soup and stew recipes to make as the weather turns cooler. Then, you can save the crackers for dipping for double the yum!
