Jason Kelce Has Reportedly Set His Post-Retirement Career Move
Jason Kelce announced his retirement from the NFL last month after more than a decade playing with the Philadelphia Eagles. Since then, Kelce has been enjoying some of his time off, but breaking up is hard to do; so much so that he's even continued working out in the Eagles' practice facilities.
Now, Kelce's post-retirement career is taking shape. ESPN has reportedly landed Kelce as a new host of Monday Night Countdown, according to the network. It marks a major next step for Kelce as he moves into the world of TV. He's appeared on many NFL broadcasts over the years and even participated in last year's NFL Broadcasting and Media Workshop, once known as the "Broadcast Bootcamp."
"This is all new territory for me. I have even more respect for it now," Kelce said of being an on-air personality at the time, per ESPN. "It's very hard to do something live, reactive of stimulus that just happened and having something clever and meaningful to say."
When thinking about his career off the field earlier this year, Kelce admitted he wanted to be a part of the Eagles in some way.
"I don’t know what’s going to happen for me. But I do know I still want to be involved in the [Eagles] organization and still want to be a part of it, regardless of what the decision is. Because I don’t want to ever feel like I’m on the outside looking in on these achievements and these accolades and these opportunities that largely represent entire cities and fan bases and organizations," he told The Philadelphia Inquirer in January. "It’s too good a feeling to pass up."
Monday Night Countdown airs Mondays at 8 p.m. on ESPN.
