Jeezy Doubles Down on Jeannie Mai Divorce Decision

Jeezy broke his silence on the end of his marriage to The Real host Jeannie Mai a month after filing for divorce.
In a new statement shared by E! News on Oct. 19, the rapper—whose real name is Jay Wayne Jenkins—said, "The decision to end this chapter in my life was not made impulsively and comes with a heavy heart."
He added, "Despite this, my love and respect for Jeannie remains and the time we spent together holds a cherished place in my heart."
Jenkins, who had requested joint custody of their 21-month-old daughter Monaco, also spoke about the former couple's parenting plans. "Our beautiful daughter is the best gift from our relationship and I am committed to assuring she feels the love and stability she deserves," he shared. "During this period, I kindly request that you respect our family's privacy as we focus on healing."
The musician filed for divorce from the TV personality in Atlanta on Sept. 14, claiming that their two-year marriage was "irretrievably broken," with "no hope for reconciliation."
Although Mai hasn't shared a statement of her own about their separation, she hinted at her emotions over the situation in an Instagram post from Oct. 12. It featured a photo of a handwritten message, which read, "SOMETIMES, YOU NEED TO TAKE A BREAK AND DISCONNECT TO HEAL."
Mai and Jenkins married at their home in Atlanta in 2021, a year after their engagement. They met years prior when he was a guest on The Real in 2018 and made their first public appearance as a couple on the following year.
