Jenna Ortega, 20, Addresses Johnny Depp, 60, Romance Rumors
Jenna Ortega has broken her silence following the spread of rumors that she'd been spotted with Johnny Depp, who is 40 years her senior.
The Wednesday actress took to her Instagram Story recently to shut down the story, as seen by NME.
"This is so ridiculous I can’t even laugh," she finally wrote after the idea of a relationship between the two caught her attention. "I have never met or worked with Johnny Depp in my life. Please stop spreading lies and leave us alone."
A rep for the Pirates of the Caribbean star also denied the rumor, telling the publication, "Mr. Depp has no personal or professional relationship with Ms. Ortega whatsoever. He has never met her or spoken to her…He is appalled by these baseless and malicious rumors that are intended to harm his reputation and career."
The relationship rumors kicked off when Deuxmoi reported that the pair had allegedly been seen together, with the assumption that they were working on the Beetlejuice sequel. Fans have speculated that Depp would be making an appearance in the film after he showed up in Google search results for the Tim Burton film's cast, per The Daily Mail.
Ortega plays Winona Ryder's character's daughter in the highly anticipated movie, which began filming earlier this year and is expected to release on Sept. 6, 2024.
Depp's rep also refuted the speculation that he would be appearing in the film, noting, "He is not involved in any project with [Ortega], nor does he intend to be."
