Jennifer Lopez Isn't in a Rush to Marry Alex Rodriguez

It's been almost a year since Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez got engaged last spring, but don't expect to see a J-Rod wedding in the headlines any time soon.

On Saturday, the 50-year-old spoke candidly about her approach to wedding planning with Oprah during the TV host's 2020 Vision: Your Life in Focus tour in Los Angeles — and she's in no rush to tie the knot. Asking if it matters when they decide to wed, Jennifer responded: "No, no...it doesn't."

"It's so funny because when we first got engaged I was like, 'Oooo, we're gonna get married in a couple months?!'" she elaborated, before adding: "You're old thinking comes right back, all that hopeless romantic [stuff] that made me get married three times."

And A-Rod is letting J.Lo take the lead in terms of the timeline. "He's like, 'Whatever you want to do, we can talk about it.' I said, 'But if we're going to be together for the rest of our lives, what is the rush,'" the mom of two explained. "If that's what we're really going to do, if we're really going to be partners."

She continued: "If we're really going to try to build something together that we both never had or both never felt like we had—which was a family with a husband and a wife, and a mother and a father—and we embrace all of our children and we show them something that we didn't have." Jennifer is a mom to 12-year-old twins, Emme and Maximilian, while Alex has two daughters — Natasha, 15, and Ella, 11 — from a previous marriage.

Meanwhile, the actress says her partnership with Alex is "different" from her past relationships and explains why they're an ideal match. "It was different than anything that I had ever experienced in the sense of his consistency," she said. "What he says, he does... every time. And that is big. He wants to build together, which I've never had. I never had anybody who wants to see me shine and grow and be."

J.Lo also credited A-Rod for her having her best year in 2019. Within a 12-month period, the multi-hyphenate got engaged, turned 50, slayed the Versace runway wearing the iconic palm print gown she made famous two decades prior, and received multiple nominations for her role in Hustlers. And, according to J.Lo, it all wouldn't have been possible without the former Yankee by her side.

"I think him being in my life is a big part of what happened this year because he allowed me to [take off] and it wasn't like, get back down here or don't outshine me...," she revealed. "We have that kind of mirror quality for each other."

Many details about the wedding are still TBD (the couple hasn't even set a date yet), but one thing is for certain: J.Lo and A-Rod are planning to invite their respective exes, Marc Anthony and Cynthia Scurtis to the event. "The couple is all love, and will be inviting their exes," a source confirmed to Entertainment Tonight.

Considering this will be Jennifer's fourth marriage and Alex's second, we commend them for their slow and steady pace to the altar.
