Jesse Tyler Ferguson Shares Unique Method of Potty Training His 2-Year-Old

The actor knows how to make just about anything fun.

Jesse Tyler Ferguson's method of potty training his toddler may be unconventional, but it's surely the simplest solution should it work.

The former Modern Family star, 47, opened up about the extravagant way he potty trains his 2-year-old son, Beckett, whom he shares with his husband, Broadway producer Justin Mikita, 37.

“Our older child is being potty trained right now,” he told Page Six during opening night for the Broadway show Shucked. “Making a big production out of a bowel movement is something we do in our house right now.”

And the productions must be so fun that Ferguson and his husband have started to make their bathroom time a production as well.

“Now we’re doing it for ourselves,” the Cocaine Bear actor revealed. “‘Look! It’s very exciting that we all poop so much!’ A lot of parades for poop are being thrown in our house right now," he quipped.

Along with Beckett, Ferguson and Mikita–who wed in New York City in July 2013 after nearly three years of dating–also share another son, Sullivan, whom they welcomed via surrogate on Nov. 15, 2022.

Ferguson shared the exciting news on Instagram, writing, “Sad to be away from my @takemeoutbway fam tonight but we ran off to welcome our newest little one, Sullivan Louis Ferguson-Mikita.”

“A special thanks to @drshahinghadir for helping us grow our family & our incredible surrogate and all of the nurses and doctors. We are overjoyed to be a family of four,” the Tony award-winner wrote alongside a photo of their newborn son.

Should Ferguson's potty training method work with Beckett, we're almost certain that little Sullivan can also expect to partake in a few poop parades in the not-so-distant future.
