Jessica Chastain is one of my (few) modern-day beauty icons. I think it’s because she exudes the glamour of a bygone Hollywood era, that of Lauren Bacall and Rita Hayworth. I will never be able to replicate her incredible shade of red hair, but thanks to a reveal of the products she relies on, I can get closer to those thick and lustrous tresses.

Chastain recently took Vogue through her beauty routine—I learned that she is exceptionally good at her makeup for someone who has her own glam team and Philip Kingsley’s Elasticizer Deep Conditioning Treatment is at least partially responsible for her aspirational tresses.

In the video, it’s one of the two hair products Chastain uses for her “no effort [looking]” hairstyle. (The other one is Oribe’s classic Dry Texturing Spray.) She uses the Philip Kingsley product a lot—she said she applies it on her wet hair and throughout the day on the ends of her hair. A quick investigation into the product makes it plain to see why. This multitasking treatment is moisturizing, improves elasticity (which makes it less prone to breakage), adds volume, and enhances shine.

The main three ingredients are bonafide hair savers. Castor oil improves circulation thereby improving hair growth. It also seals in moisture which prevents split ends. Olive oil softens strands, reduces frizz, and adds shine. Lastly, glycerin helps with dandruff and reduces oiliness.

The proof in the pudding that is Chastain’s hair is pretty convincing, but thousands of shoppers are ecstatic about Philip Kingsley’s Elasticizer Deep Conditioning Treatment, too. Several reviewers on the brand’s website have said it gives mature hair a “new lease on life.” One such shopper said it “transformed… [their] wiry and coarse menopausal hair.” Another called it a “lifesaver for perimenopausal hair.” It also makes hair look “healthy, glossy, and grow quicker,” per one reviewer.
