Jonah Hill is giving up smoking: 'I’m finally quitting for good'
Actor Jonah Hill is finally ditching cigarettes.
The Don't Look Up star, 38, took to Instagram to share that he has quit smoking "for good."
"Quitting smoking is the hardest s*** ever. I’ve struggled with it for a while. I’m finally quitting for good and am on day 3," Hill shared on Friday night.
"If you’re trying to quit and need a good excuse jump on with me and start today," the Oscar nominee continued, noting that he started "midway" through the day. Hill, who is using nicotine patches, also shouted out Allen Carr's Easy Way to Stop Smoking, a self-help classic whose late author, Carr, smoked up to 100 cigarettes per day before quitting.
Hill's commitment to quitting smoking drew praise from celebrity pals, fans and his own mom. Natasha Lyonne called his efforts "impressive," while Michael B. Jordan wrote, "Proud of you my guy." Seth Rogen, who frequently speaks about his love for smoking marijuana, added, "Save your lungs my baby."
Hill's wellness journey has been well-documented. Last year, he debuted a new tattoo reading the words "body love" in homage to his newfound passions of surfing and body positivity.
Hill has shared extensively about his struggles to accept himself throughout the years. After the British tabloid the Daily Mail posted paparazzi pictures of Hill surfing, the actor shared that at age 37, he "finally loves and accepts himself."
"I don’t think I ever took my shirt off in a pool until I was in my mid-30s even in front of family and friends," Hill explained in an Instagram caption, along with a screenshot of the Daily Mail article, Yahoo Life previously reported. "Probably would have happened sooner if my childhood insecurities weren’t exacerbated by years of public mockery about my body by press and interviewers. So the idea that the media tries to play me by stalking me while surfing and printing photos like this and it can’t phase me anymore is dope."
Hill continued, saying "this isn’t a 'good for me' post. And it’s definitely not a 'feel bad for me post.' It’s for the kids who don’t take their shirt off at the pool. Have fun. You’re wonderful and awesome and perfect. All my love."
