'Just plain false': Sarah Jessica Parker slams lawsuit claiming she took $150,000 worth of jewelry

We know Carrie Bradshaw’s shoe collection amounted to $40,000 and counting — but that’s a drop in the bucket compared with the $150,000 a jewelry designer says Sarah Jessica Parker owes her in real life.

According to court documents obtained by Page Six, the former SATC star is being sued by Kat Florence Design over claims that she borrowed but never returned jewelry valued at $149,501.96. The baubles include a pair of earrings costing $40,706.72 and a ring worth $27,115.

The suit, filed in 2016, alleges that Parker was allowed to take the jewelry for “personal use” after collaborating with Florence for a campaign shoot (see below). The jewelry brand insists that the actress was meant to return the pieces after two months but says she has failed to do so.

“It is our position in this case that after a photo shoot as part of the endorsement agreement, Ms. Parker requested that she could personally keep some of the pieces of the jewelry for a few months to wear personally,” Kat Florence Design’s attorney told Page Six. “We agreed and documented what she had. This happened in March 2016. Over two years later, the jewelry was never returned to us. We believe that as Ms. Parker has kept the jewelry since 2016, that she should pay us for it.”

But an attorney for Parker, who is countersuing the brand, disputes that story and maintains that his famous client has made efforts to give the jewelry back.

“This is just plain false,” the attorney, Ira Schreck, told Page Six. “SJP was under contract to Kat Florence and was asked to keep the jewelry so that she could wear it on red carpets and other events when appropriate.

“Sarah Jessica Parker is as honest and trustworthy a person as anyone I have ever met. She has never and would never hold on to anything belonging to someone else. In fact, she has been asking ever since Kat Florence wrongfully stopped paying her to have the pieces returned, but Kat Florence didn’t seem terribly interested in getting them back.”

The two parties will reportedly have a mediation on Friday about the matter.
