Kate Middleton and Prince William Offer a Peek Inside Kensington Palace in a New Instagram Video
Last night, Kate Middleton had to pull out of the Tusk Awards at the last minute, but not before meeting with the nominees at Kensington Palace, just a short distance from her and Prince William's private palace apartment. And thanks to a few photos and a video they shared on Instagram, royal watchers got a look inside the private event—and inside the royal residence.
In the images, fans can see bits and pieces of a drawing room, which features paintings in gilded frames and plenty of charming architectural details. The slideshow was posted alongside a comment from William. "Earlier today, Catherine and I spent some time with the #TuskAwards nominees and finalists," it read. "Their bravery, single-minded determination, and commitment to African conservation is deeply deeply humbling."
A second post features a video, which cuts between the private meeting and William's speech at the Tusk Awards later that night. Kate and William can be seen speaking animatedly with their guests in the drawing room.
This isn't the first time royal watchers have been able to look inside Kensington Palace. Memorably, the royals released photos of a meeting with President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama, which took place inside their actual private apartment.
Of course, the most beloved image to come from that event didn't feature much of the couple's home at all. It simply shows Obama crouching down to shake hands with a young Prince George, who's wearing pajamas and a bathrobe. Never too early for the royals to engage in diplomacy, it seems.
