Kate Middleton Welcomes Her Third Baby With Prince William Just Weeks Before the Royal Wedding
It certainly is a busy time for the Royals. Prince William and Kate Middleton have welcomed their third child together, the palace announced in a statement on Monday, April 23. The newborn, another little prince, was born at 11:01 a.m. local time at St. Mary’s Hospital in London.
According to the palace, the newborn royal weighed in at 8 pounds, 7 ounces. His name has not yet been shared with the public, and interestingly enough, the baby was born on St. George’s Day. Palace officials confirmed in the time leading up to the birth that neither the Duke nor the Duchess of Cambridge knew the baby’s sex in advance.
“Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a son at 1101hrs,” the palace confirmed. “Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well.”
Kensington Palace confirmed that Prince William was there to to witness the birth of the baby at the Lindo Wing of the hospital, which has now become a familiar location for the family of five. Prince Harry and William were also born int he same maternity section of the hospital, which is located close to Kensington Palace.
The baby boy joins his big brother, 4-year-old brother Prince George, and sister, 2-year-old Princess Charlotte. He will be fifth in line to the royal throne, bumping his uncle, Prince Harry, to sixth.
“The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Harry and members of both families have been informed and are delighted with the news,” the palace confirmed Monday.
The baby’s birth takes place just a few weeks ahead of the 2018 Royal Wedding between Harry and Meghan Markle. One of the biggest moments from the wedding will be related to the roles played by respective members of the royal family, including Prince George and Princess Charlotte’s appearances at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle.
It’s expected that William will likely be Harry’s best man.
