Kate Winslet Has Pointed Message For Celebrities Using Ozempic for Weight Loss

Kate Winslet

Kate Winslet is weighing in on the ongoing conversation surrounding Ozempic.

While other celebrities have spoken openly about using the type 2 diabetes drug to aid with weight loss, Winslet, 48, doesn't see the hype that some of her fellow Hollywood stars do.

During a recent sit-down with the New York Times, Winslet admitted that she didn't even know exactly what Ozempic was. After it was then explained to her as an injection (of semaglutide) that helps curb one's appetite, the Mare of Easttown actress didn't hold back her honest feelings about the drug.

"Oh, my God," she exclaimed in reply. "This sounds terrible. Let’s eat some more things!" She then took a moment to purposefully bite into the pastry she had been eating during the interview, the NYT reports.

According to Winslet, the pressure on-screen actors— especially young female actresses—to live up to certain body ideals is something she knows all too well.

The Oscar-winner told the publication that she faced her own fair share of scrutiny around her weight after her role in Titanic, which she filmed when she was only 22 years old.

The harsh criticism of her body did have a severe effect on Winslet as she ended up suffering from an eating disorder for a brief point in her life.

"I never told anyone about it," she said in the new interview published Sunday, March 3. "Because guess what—people in the world around you go: 'Hey, you look great! You lost weight!'"

"So even the compliment about looking good is connected to weight," she added.

To this day, Winslet said her weight is now "one thing I will not let people talk about," even if they mean it in a positive manner.

"If they do [bring up her weight], I pull them up straight away," she told the outlet.
