Hollywood stylist Jamie Mizrahi is known for her work with big name stars like Katy Perry, Leighton Meester, and Kate Upton. However, for the 89th Annual Academy Awards on Sunday night, she’s adding a different, lesser-known name to her client roster — Hala Kamil, a Syrian refugee and the star of the Oscar-nominated documentary Watani: My Homeland.

This photo speaks volumes.

She wrote, “It is such an honor to be able to dress Hala who is a Syrian refugee and the star of Watani. She used to watch the Oscars from her home in Aleppo which has now been destroyed. Tonight she will walk the red carpet.” Kamil wore a purple and black velvet gown with a matching purple hijab by Brandon Maxwell for the award ceremony.

Director Marcel Mettelsiefen’s documentary Watani: My Homeland tells the story of Kamil and her four children’s journey fleeing from Syria to safety in Germany.

The post hit home with social media followers, and got a major thumbs-up from Erin Foster and Mindy Kaling, who posted: ??????.
