Keke Palmer says she is focusing on her health in 2021: ‘It’s scary but also empowering’
Keke Palmer is letting her followers know that she’s focused on self-care in 2021.
On Friday, the 27-year-old actress shared sun-kissed selfies that showed her smiling bare-faced. Posing with friend Lenoria Addison, who is a social media influencer, the pair appeared to have been on a hike in Los Angeles, Calif. In her caption, Palmer wrote about the importance of focusing on her health.
“I mean, throughout my life too but especially this year as I discover I’m not just healing what I’ve done to my own body but what my genes have become susceptible to within my blood line,” she wrote, in part. “It’s scary but also empowering to know that you yourself can make the difference. No pressure right — my siblings and I just want my parents sacrifices not to be in vain! So we promise to take the resources they allowed us to have and up the anti so the Palmer’s coming after us have an even better start(my parents set the bar pretttty high).”
Fans took to the comments to show their admiration for not only Palmer’s glow, but also her transparency.
“Your skin is soo pretty! Idc!! i love when women embrace the fact that nobody is perfect!” someone commented.
“I love ur simplicity and humility,” one fan wrote.
“My role model!” another person added.
“Come thru with the Glow Queen!” a user said.
Over the past year, Palmer has been open about her personal health struggles. In December, she revealed that she has been dealing with polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), which is caused by an imbalance of reproductive hormones, for years. One of the issues it can cause is acne and the star shared a makeup-free photo of herself revealing her acne scars.
Talking to Fashionista recently, Palmer said that since her diagnosis, she’s been focusing on exercise and diet. “I thought I cared about myself before, but I've really shown myself a lot of self-care now and am really just kind of going ham when it comes to my health,” she said. “I'm very happy now to have found a whole community [surrounding PCOS] to relate to.”
