Kelly Clarkson Slammed A Body Shamer Who Called Her Friend 'Chubby'
A social media troll called Valerie Bertinelli "chubby" on social media.
Kelly Clarkson heard what happened, and shut down the rudeness in one simple tweet.
Kelly Clarkson has done it again.
Kelly’s used social media plenty of times in the past to slam tabloid rumors, give advice to heartbroken fans, and even dole out some weight loss wisdom. Now, she’s taking it one step further and defending a friend who got body shamed on Twitter, because The Voice coach is not about that negativity.
You may know Valerie Bertinelli from her time on TV hits like One Day at a Time, Hot in Cleveland or Touched by an Angel. Or, you may be familiar with her Food Network show, Valerie’s Home Cooking. Recently, Food Network sent out a tweet promoting an appearance Valerie had coming up—and someone thought it was okay to respond with, “Awwww, so chubby.”
Valerie saw the hurtful words, but did not let them bother her. “Wow,” she wrote alongside a screenshot of the interaction. “Someone is always there to remind me to tidy up my negative thoughts some more. Thank you for reminding me I’m so much more than my body. Have a blessed day.”
That in itself was a major mic drop. But when Kelly saw it, she took it one step further.
“True power is recognizing the projection of others negativity & punching it square n the face w/all the positive, remarkable, intelligent, beautiful light that seeps from ur pores,” she said. “Pity people that speak ill of others because while some of us r dancing, the others r too afraid.”
Not THAT’S how you shut it down! Kelly’s gesture did not go unnoticed by fans or by Valerie, who wrote back, “Love you.”
In conclusion: If you don’t have anything nice to say, definitely don’t say anything to Kelly or her pals!
