Will Kemp Takes On Jane Austen in Hallmark Channel's 'Paging Mr. Darcy'
Anyone who knows me knows I enjoy a period drama or two or three. Sanditon, Miss Scarlet and the Duke, When Calls the Heart, and Downton Abbey are some of my favorites shows to watch. Imagine my excitement when I heard Hallmark Channel was dedicated the entire month of February to Jane Austen! If you're a lover of period romances, then you undoubtedly love Pride and Prejudice and Sense and Sensibility. In their first Love-uary movie this season, Paging Mr. Darcy, a scholar looks to a man pretending to be Mr. Darcy for help.
Here's everything we know about Paging Mr. Darcy including a Parade exclusive sneak peek. Take a look.
What is Paging Mr. Darcy about?
When Professor Eloise Cavendish (Mallory Jansen) is asked to give the keynote speech at a Jane Austen conference – an annual event that combines scholarship and fandom – she’s dubious. After all, she’s writing about how money— not love— is the most important thing in Austen’s work. Will a bunch of people who like dressing up in empire-waist gowns and pretending to go to balls really want to hear what she has to say? When she meets Sam (Will Kemp), who puts on the breeches and frock coat of the event’s official Mr. Darcy every year, she’s disgusted, immediately judging him as a cad who uses the event to meet women. Sam and Eloise must get past their prejudices, overcome their pride, and admit they’re both drawn to Austen’s work for the same reason: an absolute belief in love.
