Kendall Jenner praised for 'bravery' for eating fries before Met Gala — and the internet gave a collective eye roll
Everyone’s Met Gala prep is different. There are last-minute dress fittings to be done, beauty masks to be worn and, in Kendall Jenner‘s case, fries to be scarfed.
According to a since-deleted tweet from Access Hollywood, the model ate a completely average meal of “grilled cheese, fries, crepes, and more” — as opposed to, say, seaweed washed down with beetroot juice — before slinking down the Met Gala red carpet in a white jumpsuit.
While there’s nothing particularly remarkable about her dining choices, the (possibly sarcastic) comment that ran with the tweet has rubbed some folks the wrong way.
“Now that is bravery,” the Access Hollywood tweet read.
Critics were quick to mock the comment, which was deleted following the backlash, for promoting the idea that eating is an act of courage.
Access deleted their tweet calling Kendall Jenner “brave” for eating before putting on a dress and I think that’s the best thing that happened today. https://t.co/R2RMclU5YS

No disrespect to @KendallJenner, but this makes me sick. Eating food and being beautiful is NOT bravery. You want to see brave? Go find the starving, the hated, and the ugly among us, who still manage to drag themselves out of bed to care for their families and themselves.

It sounds hungry, not brave.

Why is it brave to eat? Did someone poison it? Is she lactose intolerant or something?

The uproar came on the heels of criticism that the Met Gala crowd wasn’t representative of larger body types.
“Someone ought to attend the Met Gala and really blow people’s minds by being fat,” talk show sidekick Andy Richter tweeted, and plus-size blogger Gabi Fresh suggested — and drew incredible support for — a Met Gala for “fat girls.”
Fat girls let’s make our own met gala plz. Maybe it will be an annual @PREMMEdotUS event pic.twitter.com/Xlt1LLKH2p
