Why Kim Kardashian's baby news won't affect her selfie game this time
Kim Kardashian has a history of dropping out of the spotlight — at least, temporarily — after giving birth. But don’t expect that to happen this time.
That’s because Kardashian used a surrogate for her third child, after facing two high-risk pregnancies. In the past, the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star has spoken about being unhappy with her body after giving birth and the way she’s dieted and exercised to get back to her pre-pregnancy weight.
Kardashian even recalled being reluctant to undress in front of her husband, Kanye West.
“My butt was huge,” she told People six months after Saint, her second child, was born. “I would walk backwards so he couldn’t see. And I would be so insecure about changing in a fitting like, ‘Babe, you can’t look at me!’”
After she gave birth to her first child, daughter North in June 2013, her Instagram posts tended to be either throwback posts (maybe for her own inspiration?) or shots in which she was only visible from the neck up.
However, it didn’t take long for Kim to get back to her old self.
She attributed her postpregnancy weight loss to the Atkins diet and hard-core workouts.
Then, after she gave birth to baby Saint on Dec. 5, 2015, she returned to limiting her posts to throwbacks and upper-body shots … for a while. Just a short while. She was back posing for sexy selfies before we knew it.
She summed up her thoughts on losing weight after pregnancy on her blog in August 2016.
“Having a positive self-image has always been important to me because it affects so many aspects of my life: My work, my relationship with my husband and my life as a mom,” she wrote.
Kardashian added that it had taken her six months or so to get back to where she wanted to be.
“I was motivated, but it was tough!” Kardashian said. “It isn’t easy to just bounce back. I was so jealous of women who had these cute little baby bellies and would gain 25 pounds — and then, a few weeks after giving birth, somehow look exactly like they did before they were pregnant … That’s not me.”
Don’t worry, though, as the world is now in little danger of missing out on confident Kardashian selfies, especially judging by the one she posted as she welcomed her new baby girl.
Do expect some adorable pics of all three kids coming soon.
