Get to Know 'Today' Anchor Dylan Dreyer's 3 Sons

In addition to being a beloved co-anchor and meteorologist on the TODAY show, Dylan Dreyer is also a mom of three boys.

"I have to compartmentalize because if I think of everything all at once, I am so beyond overwhelmed," the 42-year-old told The Daily Mail in March 2024. "When I'm at work, I'm at work. When I go home, I'm home. And when I go home, I'm picking them up from school, I'm putting the little boy down for a nap, I'm making lunch, I'm making dinner, I'm trying to make their day special."

"But I also hit a breaking point at the end of the day where they're boys and they're yelling at each other and I'm like, 'Everybody needs to stop talking right now because I'm done, I'm done!'" she added.

Does Dylan Dreyer have kids?

She sure does. The TODAY Show fixture is mom to Calvin, 7, Oliver, 4, and Rusty, who will celebrate his third birthday in September 2024.

Who is the father of Dylan Dreyer's kids?

Dreyer shares her three children with husband Brian Fichera, a producer and cameraman for NBC News. The couple met while working at a Boston news station (she was a meteorologist and he was an in-studio technician) and married in 2012, just a month after Dreyer joined Weekend Today.

A decade and three children later, she left that gig to spend more time with her family.

"These boys are my whole life and Brian and I, we love being a team on weekends and spending as much time as we can with them and having as much fun as we can," Dreyer said. "That's really all I'm going to be doing, just sitting at home and just loving up on those three."

"It's all about family time. This job can get crazy especially when we're traveling and we're busy, but it's so important to make time for family, too," she explained.

During the week, she and her husband barely have time to talk in person—nor do they necessarily always want to, given their chaotic workdays.

"God bless my husband because he comes home from work, he doesn't want to talk to me, I don't want to talk to him because we're like, 'We've been talked to all day, we're done,'" Dreyer told The Daily Mail. "And we respect that about each other and then the weekend comes and it's it's just the five of us again."

Who are Dylan Dreyer's kids?

Calvin (b. Dec. 17, 2016)

Dreyer's first-born turned 7 in December 2023. "7 years ago, I became a mom!" she marked the occasion on Instagram. "It was a wild night and now our little Cal is the leader of our pack. Happy Birthday buddy! You are so loved and bring us so much joy!!"

Oliver  (b. Jan. 2, 2020)

Dreyer opened up on TODAY about her experience with secondary infertility as she was trying to get pregnant with Baby No. 2. During National Infertility Awareness Week, she revealed that she had suffered a miscarriage after struggling for six months to conceive, and that she was about to start IVF.

"A part of me feels a little mad at my body for not being able to do this naturally,” she admitted. But she also expressed her gratitude for her “amazing doctors” and “great support system.”

She revealed in July 2019 that she was pregnant with her second child, and that she didn't have to rely on IVF after all. "I had all my medicines—I brought it all down to the Kentucky Derby with me," she shared. Then her doctor called to tell her not to take them because, as it turned out, she was pregnant. "I'm just so happy now, I've been keeping this secret so long."

Oliver arrived just after the New Year in 2020.

Rusty (b. Sept. 29, 2021)

The youngest of Dreyer's three boys came six weeks early and required a stay in the neonatal intensive care unit at New York-Presbyterian Hospital. Although the experience was scary, Dreyer also said it allowed her a less sleep-deprived recovery period after birth.

“I’m actually sleeping because the baby’s being taken care of,” she said. “I’m not, ‘Is he hungry? Does he need a diaper? Is he cold? Is he hot?’ He’s so well taken care of that I actually slept last night. This is the best I’ve felt.”

Does Dylan Dreyer's son Calvin have celiac disease?

Yes. He was diagnosed about a year ago, after "a lot of random symptoms" that didn't seem to be related, including rashes, headaches, earaches, weakness in his hands and a stomach ulcer. The boy "was in pain constantly and laying on the couch for an hour after dinner," Dreyer once explained in the comments section of a personal Instagram post. A "simple blood test," which she advocates for all children to receive, gave them their answer.
