On July 3, reports surfaced that Richards and Umansky had separated after 27 years of marriage. Although Richards was quick to clarify on Instagram that the two were not divorcing, she did concede that they were going through "the most challenging" year of their marriage thus far. Kyle Richards was engaged to Michael Tuck, a CBS news anchor 24 years her senior, when she met Umansky in 1994.
The Bravo star didn't reveal the identity of her former fiancé until Andy Cohen pressed her for details on a 2014 episode of his show, What What Happens Live! "You look uncomfortable," he teased her.

Richards and Umansky got married on Jan. 20, 1996, just two years after meeting at a West Hollywood party. Umansky proposed in 1994 (the same year they met) by hiding a rosebud-shaped ring box in a bouquet of flowers.
Although the couple initially planned for a spring wedding, they had to bump up their nuptials for an exciting reason. "[W]e moved it up to January so my dress would still fit because I was pregnant," Richards explained to The Knot.

However, rumors of a divorce started swirling on July 3, 2023, and although Richards denied reports of a split, she did confirm that she and Umansky were going through an especially tough time as a couple.

Speaking to The Daily Dish, the younger Aldjufrie raved about how her biological father and stepfather get along. "I always say I have two dads; they both raised me," she said. "They both get along amazingly. They've done [real estate] deals together. My dad refers clients to Mauricio all the time. We all get together, he comes to our house for Christmas, Thanksgiving, it's all good."

Kyle Richards married her first husband, Guraish Aldjufrie, in 1988, when she was 18 years old.
According to Richards, they met at a Tina Turner concert, where a friend of Aldjufrie's approached her on his behalf. "I lied and I said I was 19 and I had braces and I was hiding my braces," she said in an episode of Juicy Scoop with Heather McDonald. (Aldurfrie is five years her senior.)
"And then I got scared so I had my friend come with me and then it was like a group of people and he was in the group and we became friends."
The two separated in 1990 and were divorced by 1992.
"[E]ventually I couldn't do it and I left, and I felt so guilty for so long," she said of her marriage ending. "I felt so bad. I was just too young to be married. We're still friends and he's friends with my husband."
