Lego Build-A-Thon inspires young builders at Joplin Library
JOPLIN, Mo. — Kids got the chance to grab their imagination caps for a Lego Build-A-Thon at the Joplin Public Library.
It was geared for children from the ages of 6 to 12 years old.
They could use the Legos to build robots, houses, boats, and cars with family members – or while creating new friends.
If builders didn’t know where to start, idea books were passed out to spark up some ideas.
The Lego Build-A-Thon is one of the programs offered to the public under the Lego Club.
“I’m feeling pretty good about playing with Lego and building with my family. It’s pretty nice,” said Dean Peters, Lego Build-A-Thon participant.
“Oh, I love to see our familiar faces. It’s really nice to see the kids that come in every day – but it’s also really nice to meet new kids and just hear their stories, listen to what they’re building and their interests,” said Brittany Wood, Joplin Public Library children’s assistant & teen program coordinator.
As for Peters – he says he has a personal goal to build all of his Lego at home before the end of the year.
