Legos, dinosaurs and shape-shifting cars: 11-year-old with 32,000 followers shares his top holiday toy picks
Eleven-year-old Gavin Raygoza, aka Gavster, not only boasts more than 32,000 followers on Instagram, he also knows a thing or two about toys.
Raygoza shares with Yahoo Lifestyle what the calls “the hottest toys of the holiday season. These three toys will make awesome gifts.”
So if your kid has dinosaurs, superheroes or remote-controlled vehicles on her or his holiday wish list, you’re in luck.
Drone Force Terra-Sect RC ($25)
This isn’t your average remote-controlled car: The inventive, insect-like toy can transform itself from a racing vehicle to a curled up rolling machine. The device can jump, roll and tumble over most terrain, and if the toy lands on its back, it can flip itself over. “It looks like some sort of crazy bug or insect,” Raygoza says. “It just looks very fierce from the face with the red eyes.”
Raygoza likes to set up obstacles and have the vehicle blast through them. He says the toy is one of his favorites because it’s so “unique.”
Lego Marvel Super Heroes Quantum Realm Explorers ($20)
Like many kids, Raygoza is a big fan of Lego. He says this set in particular is an “easy and very interesting build” featuring some Lego parts even he hasn’t seen before.
The set, designed for kids ages 7–12, features the super heroes Ant-Man and the Wasp along with the villain Ghost and a bug-shaped flying vehicle with movable arms.
Lego Jurassic World T. Rex Transport ($56)
The 609-piece set, geared for kids ages 7–12, comes with three mini figures, two dinosaurs, a truck, transport trailer and a lab.
Raygoza likes that the T. rex has a lot of detail and that you can detach the dinosaur transport trailer from the truck. Plus, he also appreciates that the truck doesn’t have a lot of loose pieces and has rubber tires for more traction. “I love how they thought this out — very unique,” he says. “It’s a great build.”
