Lela Rose Sent a Chic Pooper Scooper Down the Runway

The Westminster Dog Show and New York Fashion Week overlap on the calendar, but designer Lela Rose mashed them up on her runway. In a show that she called the "Roseminster Dog Show," pups and models shared the catwalk, which was refreshingly cat-free. Robert Verdi and Jenna Bush Hager acted as color commentators and there were plenty of puns, but the highlight of the show was definitely the fashionable pooper scooper, who walked out with a broom and matching receptacle to pick up after the canine models mid-show.
The New York Post adds that the dog models were cast from Instagram and actual show dogs. Verdi and Bush Hager offered up "lassies who lunch" and "I like big mutts and I cannot lie" to add a few jokes while a beagle, whippet, and Cavalier King Charles Spaniel walked alongside the models. Naturally, dogs bring a little bit of unexpected baggage to anywhere they go, so Rose's inclusion of a pooper scooper was a cheeky way to inject some fun into the usual seriousness of dog shows and fashion shows. Rose's own pup, a Norwich Terrier named Bobbin, also had a cameo.

It wasn't just a gimmick, either. Rose noted that a portion of the proceeds from the collection would go to the ASPCA, whether shoppers opted to buy online or at the designer's Dallas flagship. If that's not enough to snag Best in Show, the clothes, with their bold patterns and feminine details, may be enough to sway even the most hardened judges.
