Lindsay Lohan's 'Mean Girls' Christmas makeup is perfect for redheads (and just about everyone else too)
If you’re a redhead and you’re looking for holiday makeup inspiration, we suggest you re-watch Mean Girls. Hear us out: The 2004 teen comedy is filled with Instagram-worthy quotes like “On Wednesdays we wear pink.” But the film’s star Lindsay Lohan also wears a dark-eyeliner-and-bright-blush combo in the “Jingle Bell Rock” scene that is made for practically anyone with red hair.
Makeup artist Sade Hazard for Glamsquad gave Yahoo Finance markets reporter/producer (and fellow redhead) Justine Underhill a holiday look inspired by Lohan’s Mean Girls makeup. Watch the video above to see how she applies blush without going overboard — a technique that applies to everyone. Then keep reading below for product recommendations.
Step-by-step instructions:
1. Apply an iridescent eyeshadow onto eyelids. Sade used Soft Tulle from the NARSissist Dual-Intensity Blush Palette.
2. Trace NARS Larger Than Life Long-Wear Eyeliner in Via Veneto (a black cream liner) along upper and lower lash line. Blend with a brush. Pro tip: Clean up any mistakes with a cotton swab.
3. Use light sweeping motions to place blush on apples of cheeks. Try: NARS Blush in Angelika. The cool pink undertones won’t clash with red hair, and the microfine gold and silver sparkle makes it wearable on different skin tones.
4. Paint Christian Dior Rouge Dior Brilliant Lip Gloss in 775 Darling on lips with a fine brush.
5. Layer on NARS Lip Gloss in Greek Holiday to enhance shine.
