Littleton comes alive
LITTLETON — The 39th Annual Littleton-Lake Gaston Labor Day Festival brought an estimated 2,000 folks out to the downtown district on Friday and Saturday. Organized by the Littleton Lions Club, vice president Brian Teele said the festival raises some $10,000 to 12,000 for local charities and those in need.
Together with their charitable sales of Carolina BBQ by the pound or sandwich, filling an average of 800-900 orders, the festival featured some 50 craft vendors, 9 food trucks, carnival rides, music by the Brake Tyme Band and DJ Rich — along with Stray Cats Rod and Custom Show providing the perfect soundtrack to view classic cars and trucks under mild conditions on the last Saturday in August.
The newly formed Littleton Historical Society also organized a church tour. And Timber Waters Brewery, owned by Ed and Deb Fitts, also held its grand opening Friday night — reportedly selling some 3,000 beers over two days.
