Local sorority chapter announces pageant contestants

Apr. 20—HIGH POINT — The High Point Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. will present its 59th Jabberwock Scholarship Pageant at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 27, in The Circle Center, 234 Kettering Road, High Point.

Tickets are $25 and can be bought from any contestant or sorority member. They are also available online at hpacdst.com.

The pageant is an opportunity for young people to develop skills in group dynamics, participate in wholesome recreational, cultural, social and educational activities, develop leadership skills, exhibit poise and good character, develop oral communication skills, and build long-lasting friendships. The event also allows young people to raise and earn scholarship money.

This year's participants are:

—Morgan Elise Davis, the daughter of Alan Harris and Chanel Davis, is a junior at Middle College at Guilford Technical Community College in High Point.

—Tyra Jade Hilliard, the daughter of Tyrone and Kimaka Hilliard, is a senior at Southwest Guilford High School.

—Karrington Lyric Kemp, the daughter of Allan and Kimberly Kemp, is a senior at T. Wingate Andrews High School Health Science Academy.

—Kristyn Nichole Kirkpatrick, the daughter of Edward and Kimberly Kirkpatrick, is a senior at Cornerstone Charter Academy.

—Pilhar LaVonn McDow, the daughter of Derrick LaVon McDow and Trishonda Yvette Patrick, is a junior at Southeast Guilford High School.

—Gemacka Smith, daughter of Latisha McNeil, is a senior at T. Wingate Andrews High School.

—Abygail Brianna Nicole Thomas, the daughter of Bernard and Sherica Thomas, is a senior at T. Wingate Andrews High School.

—Trinity Mariah Williamson, the daughter of P. Kevin and Tia Williamson, is a junior at Southwest Guilford High School.

—Kimora Onterra York, the daughter of Robert Alexander York Jr. and April Denise Bethea, is a senior at T. Wingate Andrews High School.

Minister and motivational speaker Gloria Samuels will emcee the program and live music will be provided by Brandon Robinson.
