Dec. 7—Dec. 7, 1948, in The Star: In today's "Stork Club" report, three boys were born last night at Anniston Memorial Hospital. The three sets of relieved parents are Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Satterfield, 408 Eighth Avenue [city not listed]; Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Kemp, Oxford Rt. 2; and Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Whatley of 429 1/2 Leighton Avenue.
Dec. 7, 1998, in The Star: According to a column from Anniston Star business writer Jeff Amy, Birmingham developer Michael Hoffman is still trying to settle on a name for his proposed shopping center on South Quintard Avenue. One name might be simply "The Mountain,' for the 275,000 square feet of stores on the southern edge of Anniston. Over lunch after the announcement of the project a few days ago, Hoffman said that's the name he's thinking about right now. Whatever the place is called, if it is in fact built and put into successful operation, it'll mean a nice bulge in Anniston's sales tax moneybag.
