The collaboration allowed both brands to experiment with a variety of design elements, including co-branded hardware, heavyweight fabrics, vintage dyes and unique textures. “The Bad Weather x True Religion capsule really reflects the energy between our two brands and I can’t wait to see this collection being worn by all my fans,” Chief Keef said in a statement.
Highlights in the collection include the Joey Stacked Pocket flare jean and stacked pocket vest, available in washed black and washed medium indigo. The denim pieces draw inspiration from the beauty of overgrown nature and feature wash resistant prints and denim on denim patchwork. The collection also offers graphic T-shirts and zipper hoodies, a distressed cap, knit beanie and bandana.
The first part of the collection is available now on True Religion’s website for $20-$259. A second part of the collection will drop in the fall.
In 2022, True Religion linked with the rapper for a collection to mark its 20th anniversary and the 10th anniversary of Chief Keef’s song “True Religion Feign.”
“Chief Keef embodies everything True Religion’s core customer is looking for in the brand, and we are thrilled to officially launch this collaboration,” said Kristen D’Arcy, chief marketing officer, True Religion. “The marriage of Bad Weather with True Religion is an exciting exploration of new denim treatments, graphic designs, and cutting-edge silhouettes. This is a one-of-a-kind collection, and we know both Chief Keef’s hardcore Bad Weather fans and our core True Religion customers will be thrilled.”
Mother Denim
Mother Denim released the second delivery of Splash 2024, a collection that “tells a story of sun-drenched travels around the globe.”
The drop features more sun-kissed colorways and desert refences compared to the drop Mediterranean-inspired first drop. Based on a story about a fictional beach house with retro décor, the collection offers ’70s silhouettes like bell sleeve open knit sweaters, embroidered pop-over shirts and retro graphic T-shirts.
The denim range includes frayed Bermuda shorts, the Dodger ankle jean, the Ditch Midi skirt and the Outlaw Wedge Heel, a high-waisted skinny-flare jeans with a slightly dropped crotch. An oversized jacket with drop shoulders and baggy cargo jeans come in an acid-washed grey way.
H&M x Ev Bravado and Téla D’Amore
A new collection combines creative forces.
H&M teamed with New York-based designers Ev Bravado and Téla D’Amore to launch a 30-piece collection that explores artist Jean-Michel Basquiat’s legacy and his impact on young Black creatives.
Spanning tailoring, denim, jackets, hoodies, T-shirts and accessories, the collection aims to blur the line between fashion, art, and culture, “further amplifying the legacy of Jean-Michel Basquiat through placement prints, embroidery and embroidered patches of his artworks on their signature silhouettes,” H&M stated.
Standouts items include a unisex distressed denim jacket and matching jeans with Basquiat’s art enshrined in Bravado and D’Amore’s recurring window design. A bomber jacket is adorned with the vibrant artwork “Ass Killer,” A blazer features Basquiat’s scribbles about jazz greats Charlie Parker and Miles Davis. A pair of leather trousers reference the artworks “Untitled (Ideal)” and “Untitled (World Famous)”.
Known for garment distressing and upcycled denim, Bravado and D’Amore were semi-finalists for the 2024 LVMH Prize and finalists for the 2023 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund. The Basquiat estate, run by Lisane Basquiat and Jeanine Heriveaux, sisters of Jean-Michel Basquiat, said the designers have “become some of the most exciting voices in fashion, and we knew that they would honor Jean-Michel’s vision while adding their own distinct style to his work.”
“Ev and Téla have translated Basquiat’s iconic art through a contemporary lens, resulting in a collection that feels new, meaningful and exciting,” said Ana Hernandez, H&M’s men’s wear designer. “They also have a deep understanding and connection to Basquiat’s life, values and art—and how it all resonates with today’s cultural climate. This collection follows their maximalist, ‘more is more’ designs, but the artistic approach really ties into Basquiat and makes the collaboration a standout.”
Hiut Denim Co.
Hiut Denim Co.’s question for the perfect linen denim is over.
The Welsh brand released a limited-edition collection of jeans made with fabric from Kuroki in Japan. The fabric contains 62 percent cotton and 38 percent linen.
“The last time we launched a linen jean was 7 years ago, and we’ve been on the lookout for the perfect linen denim ever since,” said David Hieatt, Hiut Denim Co. co-founder.
The brand said it secured enough fabric for just 100 pairs made-to-order of jeans. Orders will be manufactured and shipped before the Hiut Denim team goes on summer vacation. The jeans retail for $335.
