Louisa's Septemberfest this weekend

LOUISA Lawrence County Septemberfest will be Friday and Saturday in Louisa, with a variety of events and activities, including musical entertainment headlined by Hindman native Brit Taylor, Nashville star Lorrie Morgan and bluegrass favorites The Grascals.

Pageant queens were crowned on Monday and will appear in the Septemberfest parade, themed “Life on the Highway,” which will start at 11 a.m. Saturday.

The 33rd annual 5K and 10K walk/run will begin at 8 a.m. Saturday. Businesses will compete in a window-decorating contest and a craft tent, vendors, carnival rides will be available throughout the festival.

The Louisa Police Department posted traffic flow details on its Facebook page.

“The traffic will remain the same as it has been for the past years,” LPD posted. “Vinson Street will be one way running south to the north and all detoured traffic will be diverted to Lady Washington Street.”

Louisa Police reminded everyone to not block driveways, streets or local businesses, and implored folks to use “extra caution due to the high volume of pedestrian traffic.”

Friday2 to 4 p.m. — Open mic competition, Main Street stage.

5:30 p.m. — Opening ceremonies.

6 p.m. — Guns for Hire.

7:30 p.m. — HunterGirl.

9:30 p.m. — Brit Taylor.

Saturday

7 a.m. — Registration for 5K/10K, Lawrence County High School football field; pancake breakfast at The Lodge.

11 a.m. — Parade begins on Madison Street

Noon — Car show.

1 p.m. — HammerTowne.

3 p.m. — Lonesome Express.

5 p.m. — The Grascals.

6 p.m. — Walker Montgomery.

7:45 p.m. — Dillon Carmichael.

9:30 p.m. — Lorrie Morgan.

Breaking down for vendors and reopening the streets will be on Sunday.
