Lulu & Georgia's Spring Collection Is the Version of '80s Decor We Always Wish Existed
Sophisticated silhouettes, muted colors, and rounded edges: The 80s influence on Lulu & Georgia's newest line is clear—but it's a far cry from the more, er, questionable style elements of the era. In the Soft Deco collection, the brand's Spring 2021 line, sculptural forms and rich textures combine to create the chic version of 80s design you always wish existed (pure style without the jazzy prints and bad hairdos, that is).
The collection evokes the same kind of fresh energy that comes with a new season. "Sophistication with a playful note—just in time for spring,” says Lulu & Georgia founder Sara Sugarman Brenner of the pieces. Kelly Mason, Manager of Content and Creative at Lulu & Georgia adds,“This collection doesn’t need much in the way of decoration—we wanted to pair sculptural with architectural, meaning everything is a statement and everything serves a purpose. An object may be used to add height, drama or texture—possibly all at once.”
From architectural dining chairs, to curved sofas and modular platform beds, it's nearly impossible not to find something you'll love. And if you're not in the market for new furniture, the line even boasts smaller items, like beautiful vintage-inspired plates with scalloped edges and paired-down linen throw pillows that would warm up any space.
But what exactly does Soft Deco, the concept for which the collection is named after, mean? "To me, Soft Deco is about the pairing of contrasts; a sumptuous curve meeting a hard edge, a delicate linen draped across a lacquered surface, and smooth travertine paired with textural boucle," says Mason. "We wanted to keep everything overtly feminine at first glance, but there is an inherent drama to the collection that is apparent when you dig a little deeper.”
