Mad About You Is Heading Back to Television
Mad About You will soon be "must see TV" once more-the popular '90s sitcom starring Paul Reiser and Helen Hunt is heading back to TV.
Here's what we know about the reboot so far:
The revival was picked up not by NBC, the network which first aired the series in the '90s, but instead by Spectrum Originals.
In March of 2019, Deadline reported that the revival, which will once again star Reisner and Hunt as Paul and Jamie Buchman, had been picked up by Spectrum Originals, Charter Communications’ new original content division.
"We are beyond thrilled to team up with Sony Pictures Television to give ‘Mad About You’ an exclusive home at Spectrum Originals," Katherine Pope, the head of original content at Spectrum said.
"Two decades ago, fans fell in love with this show, and this time will be no different as Paul, Helen and Peter explore modern marriage through the eyes of two people who have just become empty-nesters. We can’t wait for everyone to fall in love with the Buchmans all over again."
The show is expected to premiere later this year.
The season will include 12 episodes, with the first being directed by Hunt. Peter Tolan (Rescue Me) will serve as showrunner.
"We are so excited to finally be doing this and thrilled to have Peter Tolan as our fearless captain," Reiser and Hunt said in a joint statement. "We promise you the same funny and heartwarming show-as soon as we can remember what’s funny about being older. It’s going to be great!"
The team is already back together.
Hunt and Reisner reunited in early July, and Hunt shared the meeting on Instagram. "Spent the day with this friend. #madaboutyou #paulreiser#iloveny" she wrote.
