Madonna Sheds New Light Into Her Hospitalization During NYC Concert

Madonna shared new details regarding the health scare she had over the summer, which led to her hospitalization as she fought a nasty bacterial infection.

While performing in Brooklyn, New York, on Dec. 16, the 65-year-old "Hung Up" songstress added a bit of context to previous comments she had made when she said that she didn't think she would survive the infection after "forgetting days" of her life.

On Saturday, the pop queen told concertgoers that while hospitalized this past June, she had been put in "an induced coma for 48 hours."

She also shared that in addition to her children, her Kabbalah teacher was also by her side at the hospital. "The only voice I heard was his. I heard him say, ‘Squeeze my hand,'" Madonna explained, per a fan-captured video now-circulating X (formerly known as Twitter).

The seven-time Grammy winner went on, thanking her friend Shavawn, whose quick-thinking saved the singer's life. "There are some very important people in the room tonight that were with me at the hospital. There's one very important woman who dragged me to the hospital," she said in the clip. "I don't even remember; I passed out on my bathroom floor and woke up in the ICU ... She saved my life."

In early July, Madonna let everyone know she was "on the road to recovery," working hard to get well and reschedule the tour dates she had postponed at the time. It wasn't an immediate recovery, as a month later, she shared that she could finally "dance just a little bit." Now, despite being back on tour, it appears as though the pop legend is still working to get her full strength back.
