Madonna Speaks Out for the First Time Since Hospitalization

Madonna is breaking her silence following a hospitalization and ICU stay earlier this month.

The “Material Girl” songstress issued a statement on Monday, shared via Instagram, in which she assured fans that she’s “on the road to recovery.”

In the lengthy letter, she also noted she is “incredibly grateful for all the blessings in my life," thanking fans from all around the world for their positive energy, prayers, and “words of healing and encouragement.”

After being released from the hospital about a week and a half ago, she said her first thought was “her children.”

“My second thought was that I did not want to disappoint anyone who bought tickets for my tour,” she wrote, adding that she also didn’t want to let down those who have worked “tirelessly with me over the last few months to create my show.”

She emphasized that by postponing her “Celebration” tour, she will focus on her health and “getting stronger,” noting, “and I can assure you, I’ll be back with you as soon as I can.”

“The current plan is to reschedule the North American leg of the tour and to begin in October in Europe,” she explained.

Madonna also shared a selfie of herself at home alongside the statement, which she signed, “Love, M.”

The pop star was recently spotted by a fan in New York City as she went for a stroll in a t-shirt and sneakers, just weeks after she was reportedly found unresponsive on June 24 and rushed to a hospital where she remained in the ICU.

Her manager, Guy Oseary, said that the singer developed a “serious bacterial infection," at the time noting that she was “improving” after a several-day stay in the intensive care unit. She’s been supported by friends and family, including daughter Lourdes Leon and sons David Banda and Rocco Ritchie, while recovering.

Madonna's longtime friends Rosie O'Donnell and Debi Mazar both gave updates on her health status.
